Björn von Einem’s dissertation, “Modulation of amyloid precursor protein (APP) and β-site of APP cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1) intracellular transport and its influence on APP processing in Alzheimer´s disease”, was presented in a public session on December 2, 2010. The closed formal defense followed, with Prof. Christine von Arnim, Prof. Tobias Böckers, Prof. Peter Gierschik, Prof. Thomas Wirth and Prof. Dietmar Thal as examiners.

A short time later, on December 7, 2010 Anja-Silke Beyer successfully defended her PhD dissertation, "Interaction between amyloid-b (A4) precursor protein (APP) and engulfment adaptor PTB domain containing 1 (GULP1) and its physiological impact on APP metabolism". The examination committee included Prof. Christine von Arnim, Prof. Tobias Böckers, Prof. Claus Pietrzik, Prof. Michael Kühl, Prof. Melanie Meyer-Luehmann, München.

Isabella Sandra Löder defended her dissertation titled, “Combining small molecule XIAP inhibitors and death receptor ligands as promising approach to overcome apoptosis resistance in acute and chronic lymphocytic leukemia”, on December 17, 2010.
