The Institute
The overall goal of the research activities at the Institute of Orthopaedic Research and Biomechanics, Ulm University Medical Center (www.biomechanics.de), is to better understand the pathogenesis of disorders of the musculoskeletal system and develop novel therapeutic strategies. We rely on a broad spectrum of innovative methods, an interdisciplinary research team, and extensive (inter)national cooperation. Project Description
We aim to develop novel bone glues to improve surgical fracture fixation and bone defect treatment. The project is performed in collaboration with Würzburg University and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The doctoral thesis work will focus on the biological and functional investigation of the new bone glues. The broad spectrum of methods comprises a surgical animal model, (immune)histology, biomechanical analysis and micro-computed tomography.
