Prof. Dr. Alexander Kling is partner and senior consultant at the Institut für Finanz- und Aktuarwissenschaften (ifa), Prof. Dr. Jochen Ruß is managing partner at the Institut für Finanz- und Aktuarwissenschaften (ifa). They both combine scientific work with practical life insurance expertise. Their focus is on the development of innovative life insurance products in particular with new forms of guarantees, on actuarial aspects of life settlements, as well as on behavioral aspects of insurance demand.

The Practical Actuarial Science course covers in particular the features of innovative life insurance products. Moreover, it covers simulation.
This course can be taken by students in our Master of Finance program and Master in Economathematics with specialization Actuarial Science.
Personenversicherungsmathematik (Life-, Health- and Pension- Mathematics) (or proof of advanced knowledge in Actuarial Science)
The Practical Actuarial Science course consists of lectures and case-studies. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
Students will work in small groups and have to present their findings in front of the other participants. On the day of the presentations, we expect participants to be familiar with the contents and to be able to answer questions on announced topics from the lecture and the case studies.
In addition, students are required to write (short) reports on announced topics from the lecture and the case studies.
For all students who receive a grade, there will be an additional (short) oral exam for them on the presentation day.
