From Oct 8th to Oct 10th the Department Human Factors hosted the 17th PhD Workshop of the Section Traffic Psychology of the German Psychological Society (DGPs) with around 50 participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. There were 16 full presentations and 14 short presentations on a wide range of PhD projects from diverse areas of traffic psychology including driver behavior, mobility, automated driving, distraction and inattention, automotive interface design, and methods. These presentations were accompanied by a panel discussion on scientific career paths, which sparked valuable discussions about future opportunities and challenges in academia and gave deep insights into the not always straightforward paths on this journey. Prof. Tibor Petzoldt (TU Dresden) gave a  keynote on the factors influencing e-scooter usage behavior in traffic—a highly relevant and insightful topic for today’s mobility landscape.

Beyond the presentations, we enjoyed many stimulating conversations, a guided city tour of Ulm, and evening social events that allowed us to connect in a relaxed setting.

Many thanks to the team of the Human Factors department at Ulm University for organizing and hosting this workshop!
