Most methodologies to redesign business processes are incremental and participative by nature: They take an existing process as starting point that is gradually improved upon, and they rely on the outcomes of workshops with various stakeholders. At TU/e, we have been working for the past 10 years on a process design methodology that takes a very different approach in both respects. The idea is that in this way problems associated with the traditional redesign approach can be overcome. It is called Product-Based Design (PBD). This talk will give an overview of the progress with developing PBD, the toolbench that has been developed, and our experiences with its application in practice.
