'Quantum leap' in THE Ranking and best young German university

Ulm University performs exceptionally well in international university rankings: the renowned 'THE World University Ranking' rated Ulm University number 135 worldwide, 57 ranks higher than last year. In a nationwide comparison this means rank 13 – scoring higher even than Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Universities of Konstanz, Stuttgart and Cologne as well as TU Dresden. THE’s Ranking is led by British and American elite factories, with University of Oxford coming out on top. Best German university is LMU Munich on rank 30.

Ulm University scored particularly high in the categories of third-party funds from industry and researcher citations. The number of citations in scientific publications is considered to be a good indicator for research performance. 'It make us proud that we were able to add another fantastic and much improved rank in the general THE Ranking to our great success in THE’s Ranking of young universities under 50 years. This is a great confirmation of our scientific capacity and research strength,' says President of the University, Professor Michael Weber.

More excellent results were published recently: the 'QS Top 50 under 50' deems Ulm University best young German university and number 38 worldwide. Another ranking where Ulm University outperforms considerably bigger institutions like the Universities of Bremen and Duisburg-Essen as well as TU Dortmund.
