Step 1: Registration in the campus portal of Ulm University
You register online in the campus portal.
After self-registration, you will receive an e-mail with the activation code and a request to confirm your personal account in the campus portal of Ulm University.

Step 2: Application in the campus portal of Ulm University
You submit your application in the campus portal and upload the required documents.

Further information

  • Master's degree or an equivalent degree from a university in molecular medicine or in a university degree programme with a standard period of study of at least four years relevant to the doctorate, with essentially the same content,  in particular human medicine, veterinary medicine, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biotechnology, pharmacy, but also other natural science subjects such as or degree programmes with natural science content such as bioinformatics and biophysics, graduates of other subjects, in particular computer science, engineering, physics or mathematics, may also be considered if they are deemed suitable for a doctorate in the field of medicine,
    with an overall grade of at least 2.0 or the proof that the applicant is in the top 10% of the examination period with the final grad
  • Curriculum vitae with special aptitude and motivation for scientific work
  • Sufficient English language proficiency, proven in an oral presentation with discussion
  • Confirmation of supervision by Ulm University and a supervision agreement
  • Oral presentation in English, 15 minutes, and discussion, with an evaluation of a grade of 2.0 or better.

When submitting your application via the campus portal of Ulm University, you must upload the following documents:

  • Degree diploma and degree certificate of the study programme with final grade as well as overview of subjects and grades / transcript of records with credit points / Diploma Supplement
  • Declaration for Admission (pdf)
  • Curriculum vitae showing the professional and scientific career
  • Proof of professional training related to the degree programme or academic achievements that were completed after graduation and which can provide particular information about the
    aptitude for the doctoral programme (e.g. subject-specific publications), if available Subject-specific publications, if available
  • Proof of a confirmation of supervision by Ulm University
  • In the case of a higher education degree from China, Vietnam or India: APS certificate or APS confirmation.
  • In case of a foreign higher education degree: grading scale of the degree programme with indication of the lowest passing grade and maximum grade for the degree, to be shown on the degree diploma/degree certificate or on an official document of the higher education institution.
  • If proof and documents to be submitted are not written in German or English, additionally an official translation into German or English is required

Please note:

  • It is not necessary to certify the supporting documents.
  • When submitting the application, all required supporting documents must be uploaded. Subsequent submission is not possible.
  • Application documents in paper form, as a fax or by e-mail will not be accepted.
  • A document issued in another name must be supplemented by documentary evidence of the change of name.
  • Further supporting documents may be required for your application.

You will be admitted if you meet the following requirements:

  • Compliance with application form and period as well as completeness of documents
  • Compliance with the entrance requirements
  • Confirmation of supervision by Ulm University as well as proof of a supervision agreement
  • Oral presentation in English, 15 minutes, and discussion with an evaluation of a grade of 2.0 or better.
