Reaxys (BEILSTEIN and GMELIN)

All members of the University of Ulm (staff and students) can use the Reaxys database servers within the university network (IP-controlled) for free. Reaxys includes the structural and factual databases BEILSTEIN and GMELIN and a chemical patent database in a single database structure.

Reaxys currently includes over 30 million substances, over 47 million reactions and more than 57 million references (as of July 2018).

Reaxys is platform independent and can be used either anonymously or as personally registered user at

The following web browsers are recommended:

  •          Microsoft Internet Explorer™, version 11
  •          Mozilla Firefox™, version 49 or later
  •          Google Chrome 53 or higher
  •          Apple Safari™ version 9 or later

JavaScripts and cookies must be enabled.

Benefits of the Web-version:

  •          no more update installations by the end user
  •          unified database structure
  •          interactive synthesis planner
  •          alert function (only for personally registered users)
