About our Facility
The Core Facility EMMA was established in 2023 as a central instrumentation facility with the aim of supporting and augmenting the evolving research and teaching activities at the University of Ulm. CF EMMA provides shared resources to students and researchers in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas and expertise. Our instrumentation covers a broad range of chemical characterization techniques (see our Units), and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with our capabilities by following the links below.
External partners are welcome to make use of our facility and are encouraged to contact us for more information.

New addition to our Mass Spectrometry Capabilities!
With the addition of a Bruker UltrafleXtreme MALDI ToF/ToF Instrument, we are now able to off a more complete mass analysis service of synthetic products and molecules.

Our Surface Analysis Unit has grown!
We have added two dual-beam, FIB-SEM, microscopes to our facility (former FIB Center), thereby expanding our capabilities from chemical (XPS) to include structural characterization of materials.

Informative Lecture - Mass Spectrometry
Dr. Markus Wunderlin will provide information regarding our mass spectrometric capabilities and how to best take advantage of what we have to offer. The Lecture will also include MS basics along with practical sample preparation methods.
Join us! No need to register in advance.
