The next call for proposals is expected to be launched in March 2025.

The Ulm University allocates funds from the University Allowance aquired through the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments to support junior researchers.
Start-up funding is granted for materials, equipment and assistant staff for independent research projects in order to help junior researchers develop and sharpen their research profile, prepare external third-party funding applications and gain academic independence.

Please refer to application guidelines to see how exactly the funds may be used.

The maximum funding amount is EUR 10,000 per application. The funding period is 12 months.

Eligibility:
The funding is available to doctoral students from the third year of their doctorate and to junior researchers after completing their doctorate (postdocs up until they submit their habilitation, junior professors can apply within the first year of their post) of the following faculties of Ulm University:

  • Faculty of Engineering, Computer Science and Psychology
  • Faculty of Mathematics and Economics
  • Faculty of Natural Sciences

Members from the Faculty of Medicine are not eligible for this funding.

How to apply:

  1. Please read the funding directive.
  2. Please contact ProTrainU office (protrainu(at)uni-ulm.de) to arrange an appointment for personal consultation.
  3. Fill in and sign the application form.
  4. Create and enclose the required documents (see application form).
  5. Submit your application to ProTrainU electronically as a pdf document (protrainu(at)uni-ulm.de) and printed out by internal mail.
