Thursday, 27 March 2025, 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., online in German
Why and what: Career paths in university medicine have always been characterised by a variety of options. The seminar offers a compact overview of the paths to academic independence and the specific qualification paths to a professorship in the field of university medicine. It spans an arc from the presentation of career paths to the optimal application for a professorship.
The seminar provides comprehensive information and helpful tips for successful career planning and application.
„Strategic networking as access to the hidden job market“
Workshop for femal doctoral students
held by Caroline Ketting|KettingCoaching
Friday, 16 May 2025, 09:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., online in English
Why and what:
After completing a doctorate or a postdoc position, many are faced with the challenge of starting a career outside the university. The question often arises: “What do I want to achieve professionally and how do I find the right job?” The search for job advertisements may seem obvious, but it does not always lead to success. In fact, over two thirds of all jobs in Germany are awarded without being advertised. How does an application process outside the academic world work and how do you get these hidden jobs? The key lies in contacts and networks. Some of these connections already exist, others you can build up specifically. These contacts not only provide access to job opportunities, but also valuable insights into different career fields, specific tasks and company cultures. This information will help you to choose the right career direction for you.
Contents of the workshop:
• How to make networking meetings successful and enjoyable
• Differences between application procedures within and outside academia
• Authentic self-presentation in networking and job interviews
• Building and maintaining contacts
• The importance of online networks (e.g. LinkedIn) and dealing with professional
networkers (recruiters, employment agencies, headhunters)
We have set up a LinkedIn Group to help you start connecting and networking outside of scheduled networking events.
Who can join the group?
Our LinkedIn Group is open to all female junior academics from Ulm University who have participated in a Exzellenzia networking event before.
