Prof. Dr. Dr. Olga Pollatos
Olga Pollatos studied psychology and medicine at the Technical University (TU) of Berlin and the Ludwig-Maximilian-University (LMU) of Munich. In 2004, she completed her Ph.D. thesis in psychology in the field of emotions and cortical functions at the Department of Biological Psychology at LMU Munich. From 2004-2008, she habilitated with a focus on biological psychology and neuroscience at LMU Munich; in 2008, she received the “Venia legendi” in psychology. After receiving her license to practice medicine in 2007, she worked at the Department of Neurology at LMU from 2008-2009 and she completed her doctoral studies (Dr. med.) in neuroradiology. She also spent research periods abroad at the University of Sussex and the Academic Radiology in Nottingham. From 2009-2012, she was a junior professor for the psychology of emotion and motivation at the University of Potsdam. Since September 2012, she is the head of the Department of Clinical & Health Psychology at Ulm University. Olga Pollatos is trained psychotherapist (CBT) with additional qualification in group therapy as well as child and youth psychotherapy, an additional qualification in special pain therapy is still ongoing.

- Areas of research: Health, nutrition and sports activity
Personality and physical processes for nutrition- and weight-management, influence of odor perception, pathological disorders like eating disorders and obesity, influential factors of sportive performance.
- Areas of research: Embodied Cognition
Regulation of risk-behavior, self- and emotion-regulation, emotion- and physical processes. Embodiment of body perception, pathological disorders like alexithymia as well as anxiety- and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
- Areas of research: Pain
Pain processing and emotion, empathy and personality, empathy for pain, stress processing and pain, pathological disorders like somatoform- and personality disorders.
- Methodological areas of research
Peripheral physiological variables, heart rate variability, biofeedback, interoception, EEG and evoked potential, EGG, functional imaging, connectivity analysis, glucose metabolism, experimental manipulation of central activation by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
