The Opens internal link in current windowInstitute of Databases and Information Systems (DBIS) is glad to announce a new international collaboration in the scope of its research field flexible mobile data collection. In summer 2013, first initial talks between the Opens external link in new windowchildren’s hospital Zurich and DBIS took place to discuss the opportunity of a collaboration. Recently, the talks have been successfully concluded and a deal was sealed on a joint project for flexible data collection through mobile end devices including a funding of 25,000 CHF for DBIS.

The project's goal is to create an intuitive possibility for parents and children to submit important information about a traumatic event (e.g., a car accident) in a mobile and quite accessible way. In doing so, the information are supposed to be collected by digital questionnaires through common mobile end devices to eventually reduce or ideally even avoid burdensome and traumatic health implications for children.

For more than one year, DBIS staff has carried out research on innovative and generic concepts for process-oriented flexible data collection through mobile end devices in the context of the projects Opens internal link in current windowQuestionSys and Opens internal link in current windowMARPLE. By the cooperation with the children’s hospital in Zurich, these concepts will now be transferred and evaluated in the healthcare domain.
