For summer term 2016, the Institute of Databases and Information Systems (DBIS) again offers a diverse set of teaching modules. As a student, you may find the modules' overview at the
dedicated teaching website for the ongoing summer term. You may also visit our
generic teaching overview to have a look at all modules offered by DBIS across the terms.
Regarding bachelor studies, DBIS supports the important basic education through offering the mandatory modules Information Systems (for computer science students) and
Introduction to Programming (for economics studends). In addition, the modules
Mobile Application Development and
Mobile Application Project are offered to media informatics students in the scope of the focus project Mobile Business Applications. Lastly, DBIS also offers the introductory seminar
Concepts for Data and Process Management as well as the bachelor seminar
Advanced Concepts for Data and Process Management.
For students in master studies, DBIS offers the modules Information Retrieval and Web Mining, and
Big Data Analytics, which are both held by Prof. Dr. Martin Theobald. Us usual, DBIS also offers the module
DBIS Lab in which students can intensively study state-of-the-art process management technology based on a realistic use case. Furthermore, the established module
Service-oriented Computing, which is a good complement to the lecture Business Process Management, is also provided in summer term 2016.
Of course, the popular DBIS master projects as well as the module
Advanced Mobile Application Engineering (belonging to the same-named focus project) for students in media informatics are provided, too. Students of Cognitive Systems may subscribe to our projects
Cognitive Solutions for Mobile Guidance, Assessment and Crowd Sensing and
Increasing Patient Engagement Through Cognitive Companions and Apps. The broad master teaching program is completed by the seminars
Research Trends in Information Systems,
Research Trends in Business Process Management and
Research Tends in Data Science.
