On November 25, 2010 Markus Kalb successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled
”Supporting Periodicity in Information Systems”
at the University of Ulm. The DBIS team is pleased to congratulate Markus on his successful PhD defense and wishes him all the best for his future. Markus’ PhD advisor was Prof. Dr. Peter Dadam.
Markus’ thesis deals with the support of periodicity in information systems. For example, medications in a hospital often follow a periodic schema that has to be supported by the respective hospital information system. Markus developed an advanced approach for specifying such periodicities and for representing them in a finite way. Furthermore he developed a mathematical technique for the efficient comparison of periodic schemes. Markus‘ research work was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) under funding reference P7013001.
