General Organisation
The planning and organisation of courses (in German: Lehrveranstaltung, short LV) for a semester N is based on the module handbook (MHB) and takes place in semester N-1. The field "cycle" in the MHB determines whether a module takes place
- each term,
- each winter term,
- each summer term, or
- irregularly.
Courses are planned and organised on the basis of this information (which modules should be offered in semester N according to the MHB). The course list is discussed and approved by the study committee.
Please note: the compulsory courses in the Bachelor's degree programmes are coordinated centrally by the Dean of Studies.
Course Planning Procedure for a Semester N
In semester N-1, each computer science institute receives an email from the study coordinator with a list of courses that should or can be offered in semester N according to the module handbook.
Lecturers must add information to this list for each course (each line!). This includes the columns
- ‘Will take place in the coming semester?": Yes or no (with justification), if necessary note ‘also/only for CogSys’
- ‘Lecturers": add lecturers, other teaching staff and also “organisational” persons (these persons can edit the course in the LSF and have Moodle courses created, for example)
- ‘Student Assistant (in German: Hilfskraft, short HK) Requirement": Add the number of student assistants required for the course.
- No lines may be deleted from the list. If existing courses are missing, please contact Jens Kohlmeyer.
If a new course is planned, please add it to the list and mark it as NEW in the ‘Will take place in the coming semester?’ column.
Please return the updated Excel file to Jens Kohlmeyer by email by 14 November 2024.
