The first step on the way to becoming a teacher is the bachelor's degree. The focus is on academic studies in two subjects, which are supplemented by subject didactics and educational sciences. Completion of the bachelor's degree qualifies students to enter the master's program in teaching. With the Bachelor of Science degree, it is also possible to switch to a specialized course of study in one of the two subjects taken.
The teaching bachelor's degree for the teaching profession at grammar schools is oriented towards the requirements of education and upbringing of young people in the age group of 9 to 17-year-old pupils at grammar schools.

The subjects biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, natural science and technology, physics as well as economics are offered at the University of Ulm. The following subject combinations are possible.

The following study plans provide an overview of the contents of the respective chosen subjects and represent a possible course of the Bachelor's program. Some subjects include elective modules. Which modules can be chosen here is regulated in the study and examination regulations.
The bachelor thesis consists of 12 LP and is written in one of the two subjects. Upon successful submission of the Bachelor's thesis, the academic degree Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) is awarded. This degree qualifies the student for admission to a Master of Education (M. Ed.) or a Master of Science (M. Sc.).
As a rule, a general university entrance qualification is a necessary prerequisite for studying at a university. In some cases, it is possible to study without a high school diploma. For more information, please contact the Central Student Advisory Service. The orientation test for teacher training studies in Baden-Württemberg is obligatory. This test is not a test in the sense of a selection. The goal is a self-assessment of whether the future teaching profession makes sense for you. The test is anonymous. At the end of the test you can print out a form. You complete this by hand and enclose it with your application documents for the study place.
At the University of Ulm, the subjects Biology and Economics are admission-restricted in the teaching degree, the other subjects in Ulm are admission-free. If you choose one of the two admission-restricted subjects in your teaching degree program, you can apply for a study place by July 15 at the latest for the coming winter semester. If you choose to study two subjects with open admissions in your degree program, you can enroll in the program no later than September 30 for the upcoming winter semester.
