EcoSocMan Awareness through Science Education for Ecosystem Ecology, Society and Management - an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership
EcoSocMan, which stands for "Awareness through Science Education for Ecosystem Ecology, Society and Management", is a three-year project that aims to increase knowledge and awareness of climate change-related environmental changes in selected areas of Europe. Three summer schools lasting several days form the core of the project, which is being carried out jointly with partners from Estonia (Eesti Maaülikool), the Czech Republic (University of South Bohemia), France (Université d'Aix Marseille), Germany (Goethe University Frankfurt, simpleFilm GmbH) and Ukraine (Ukrainian National Forestry University). This and the other activities are intended to bring students, teachers and people with expert knowledge into exchange and to develop a transnational European network for transdisciplinary and cooperative learning. Stakeholders from the natural and social sciences as well as from society will be integrated. A special feature is that short educational films will also be produced.
Climate change is a global crisis demanding global solutions. Its impacts transcend borders and disciplines, necessitating a united approach. This project aims to foster a multidisciplinary academic partnership across Europe, bringing together experts from diverse ecological, environmental, economic, and sociological backgrounds.
By combining research and teaching and dissemination, we seek to:
- Increase public awareness: Educate a wider audience about the urgent need to address nature and socio-environmental challenges.
- Empower the next generation: Offer students an international, interdisciplinary teaching format to develop a deep understanding of ecosystem ecology, environmental issues, and the complexities of climate change.
Our goal is to cultivate a community of informed citizens and future leaders equipped to tackle the pressing challenges of our time.
