Research Incubators

Research Incubators serve to identify new, promising interdisciplinary research fields outside the scientific mainstream and the university's existing focus areas.  The incubators promote interactions between different departments and faculties in line with the university's guiding theme of “Crossing Borders”. 

Funding is provided for 3 years and is to begin within three months of the announcement of the evaluation results. The amount of funding per incubator is up to approximately 150,000 euros per year. After approval, the financial department sets up the project accounts and makes the approved funds available in the form of lump sums.

Following a call for proposals in March 2023, two interdisciplinary and interfaculty projects on inflammatory diseases and collective behaviour in heterogeneous biological systems were selected. These will be funded with up to 100,000 euros per year for up to three years (press release).
