Take care of the data from the start

Research data can sometimes only be collected once (e.g. climate and weather data) and is often obtained at great cost and time. Research data is very valuable for the traceability of results and progress in research. Research data should therefore be made reusable unless there are reasons to the contrary.

This requires, for example, a backup, secure storage, a strategy for long-term retention, and sufficiently detailed documentation for later understanding of the data. Good management of your research data starts with the research question and considers all the steps the data goes through.
