Licences & access
Access
In order to use licenced electronic services, your computer must use an IP address from the University's network area. The following access routes are available:
a) via LAN on the Ulm University campus
b) via the WLAN eduroam
c) off-campus via VPN (possibly with restrictions - depending on the licence conditions)
d) at the Ulm University Hospital via the "Chrome Uni-Ulm" terminal server.
Alternatively, access via Shibboleth is also possible for an increasing number of our services. This authentication procedure enables access to licensed e-journals, databases and e-books from outside the campus network.
You can log in via Shibboleth:
- Select location (Ulm) and institution (Ulm University),
- Shibboleth login page of the kiz appears,
- Enter the e-mail address and password of your kiz account.
The kiz account is required for all logins.
The current list of Shibboleth participants can be found here.
Licences
Licences of the kiz (Communication and Information Centre)
The kiz (Communication and Information Centre) of Ulm University procures fee-based licences for databases, e-journals and e-books and makes the associated products available to authorised users. As a rule, these are annual licences. Access is via the University network as described above. In addition, there is also access to licences that have been paid for by other licensees (e.g. ReDI by the state of Baden-Württemberg or national licences by the DFG) or that are freely available on the network (e.g. journals with a green traffic light in the EZB).
