For the university, the university hospital, the Ulm HS, the Studierendenwerk and the Ulm Office of the Property and Building Baden-Württemberg (VBA), kiz operates a common telephone system (currently consisting of 19 networked telecommunications systems). At selected locations, instead of the classic 2-wire cabling, the IP infrastructure of the building is used to supply telephone lines. The determination of which locations are taking place on site.

The devices 4029 per employee are respectively. IP 4028 (for VoIP) provided free of charge as a basic supply. The devices 4039 or IP 4038 (for VoIP) is considered a basic supply for chief secretary systems. The use of other telephony devices (in charge of private devices) is generally not permitted on the telephone network of the university. In the University East area, telecommunications connections are set up for events, which can be switched on if necessary (conference connections: more).

Employees of Ulm University:
For the required telephone and fax connections, an online form for setting up a new connection must be filled in. The connection type is made by kiz in the correct shape depending on the cabling type of the building.

Employees of VBA:
For the required telephone and fax connections, an informal application to the technical department of the VBA (currently Hr. Steur).

Landline TDM (2-wire)
The basic care includes a telephone Alcatel 4029 free of charge for each employee. For head/secretary facilities, one telephone Alcatel 4039 is provided free of charge per employee. If necessary, a fax connection is provided free of charge to each secretariat. The telephone charges used are offset down by the quarterly fee billing of the respective cost center. In case of wantonly damaged telephones, the repair price will be charged.

VoIP (Voice over IP)
The basic care includes an Alcatel 4028 or 4038 IP telephone free of charge for each employee. For head/secretary systems, one IP telephone Alcatel 4068 is provided free of charge per employee. If necessary, a fax connection is provided free of charge to each secretariat. The telephone charges used are offset down by the quarterly fee billing of the respective cost center.
