DECT network
DECT stands for D igital E nhanced C ordless T solutions and refers to a wireless telephone system. Devices for this are often referred to as "bodyless phones" or simply as "cordless", not to be confused with the mobile phones according to the GSM standard, the so-called "cordless" telephone. "Handies".
On the campus on Upper Eselsberg and at other university locations, a wireless telephone network is available to the members of the university according to the DECT standard. This network is equipped with the complete range of services of our wired telephone system and coupled with it via cross connection. In addition, the university DECT network has been set up as a stand-alone system, i.e. the DECT network continues to function during most conceivable failures of the central telephone systems and can therefore be used as redundancy to the wired system. Users can make calls to the outside or with each other via the DECT telephones as usual, and external calls to the extension numbers of the DECT telephones are also continued to be made.
