Chip card
Service category: Campus & Business
The Ulm University's chip card serves an identification for various functions and application in areas of the entire university. Authentication is an essential part of our services and is performed through the distribution of personalized chip cards, which store personal encrypted data. Based on this authentication, the chip card infrastructure, which is connected to the university's systems, are authorized.
The validation of the authentication is performed both online via the back-end chipcard management system and offline through the data stored on the card. In order to ensure a valid offline validation, the chip card must be extended at regular intervals. Using a PIN code (for students and employees) you can extend your chipcard at one of several available self-service terminals.
The kiz supplies every issuing department of the university (administration, institutes, kiz central library) with chip cards. These departments also get devices for personalization of the chip card if necessary.
