Collections & Information Media Department

Profile of department

Through the Acquisition & Metadata team, the department organises the purchase and licensing of all types of print and electronic media. A broad spectrum of relevant (E)-resources is acquired or licensed by the determination of the needs at the university, the coordination of purchase requests and the participation in the consortium Baden-Württemberg. In order to find and research the information resources in the local library catalogue and supra-regional reference systems, all media forms are recorded according to factual and content-related criteria.

The department also provides services in the areas of publishing, open access, research data and specialist information. The Research Data Management (FDM) team advises on issues relating to the management of research data, including the publication of data and the preparation of data management plans. It is involved in various e-science projects and, together with OPARU, manages the publication platform of the University of Ulm and develops it further both technically and conceptually. The Service Point Publication Management advises scientists on the publication of publications on OPARU, in particular doctoral candidates on the submission of electronic dissertations. In addition to the recording of electronic publications, the exchange of printed media also takes place there. Here, subject-specific enquiries, e.g. research on specific topics in subject databases, can also be commissioned. The Publication Management team offers comprehensive advice in the fields of Open Access, publishing and literature management. The Servicepoint Information is also an important point of contact for questions of all kinds relating to information requirements.
