Philosophy of Mind and Cognition
Philosophy of mind and cognition is a branch of philosophy that deals with fundamental questions about what mind and cognition are, how they can be explained scientifically, or how body and soul relate to each other.
Research at the Humboldt Centre focuses on theories of emotion. In her book Embodied Emotions Prof. Dr. Rebekka Hufendiek advocates an emotion theory that understands emotions as embodied and embedded in a social environment. Click on the link to find an overview and a discussion of her book.
In addition, we undertake research in the field of embodied and situated cognition – a tradition of thought that has become equally relevant for philosophy, psychology and robotics. Philosophie der Verkörperung is an anthology on the philosophy of embodiment co-edited by Prof. Dr. Rebekka Hufendiek.
