Inventions, patents, utility models, trademarks and their commercialisation

We are responsible for the evaluation of invention disclosures at Ulm University, including those that come from the Medical Faculty. We also look into any existing contractual commercialisation obligations and possible consequential claims by the University or transfer of rights onto third parties.

If the invention is not bound by contract, we assess it with regards to content and options for commercialisation. For this purpose we collaborate with a variety of patent commercialisation agencies. It is our responsibility to decide on approval or claims of the invention and, if relevant, patent application and commercialisation.

We give advice on questions regarding inventions, utility models and also the legal regulations for employee inventions (Arbeitnehmererfindungsgesetz).

The easiest way to disclose your invention is to use the official invention disclosure form. If you wish to disclose your invention in another way, please make sure to provide any information of relevance for the evaluation of your invention and the opportunities for commercialisation.
