We are pleased to announce the
SALVE 2D23 Symposium
taking place at Ulm University, Germany from
September 25th - September 28th, 2023.
It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend SALVE 2D23, the 5th consecutive symposium taking place at Ulm University in Germany, which will be held from September 25th to 28th, 2023.
Two-dimensional (2D) materials are regarded as one of the brightest and most promising stars in the sky of nanoscience. In many cases, native and even intentionally introduced atomic defects determine the unique structural, electronic, optical, and mechanical properties of low and 2D materials. The SALVE (Sub-Ångström Low-Voltage Electron microscopy) 2D23 symposium will report on new results in transmission electron microscopy for structural and electronic defect analysis in inorganic and organic low- and 2D materials, discuss new approaches in their preparation, present recent advances in quantum mechanical calculations of their properties and communicate on defect-mediated applications of these ultra-thin materials. With this strategy, our 5th SALVE symposium will bridge between the classical disciplines of physics, chemistry, (in part) biology, quantum-mechanical computation, and engineering and bring together an interdisciplinary research community knowing that scientific discoveries and technological developments nowadays are largely been found at the interfaces between different disciplines. SALVE 2D23 aims to design a unique discussion platform between the five disciplines.
Due to our capacity is the number of participants limited.

The buildings N27 and TTU (To Train U) are located 2 walking minutes away from the tram station "Botanischer Garten". The two buildings are just next to each other.
Public transport is the easiest way to reach this destination. The tram number 2 and the bus number 5 and number 13 each stop at the "Botanischer Garten".
Limited fee-based parking spots are available in front of N27 and TTU. Further away are the covered car parks P40 and P20, that are also fee-based.
