Study and research at the highest level
As a young research university, Ulm University is dedicated to addressing the global challenges of the future – at the highest level. This is quite literally the case, as we are the highest-altitude university in Germany.
We stand out thanks to our clear focus on medicine and STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the excellent quality of our education, and our top-level research. We educate around 10,000 students. Research and teaching are linked by curiosity, passion and commitment – at the highest level. Research
At Ulm University, we focus on four future-oriented profile areas: Green Energy, Quantum Technologies, Life-long Health and Interdisciplinary Data Sciences & Artificial Intelligence. We enjoy a globally excellent reputation in these areas and set standards with our research.
Study
Our four faculties offer more than 60 study programmes taught in German and English. They provide a custom-made range of courses for tomorrow's professionals. Our graduates have excellent job and career prospects.

Excellent in battery research
On the Green Energy Campus, our scientists are conducting research in POLiS (Post Lithium Storage), the only cluster of excellence for battery research in Germany.
Pioneers of quantum research
Our quantum scientists are among the world's leading experts in their field. Their goal is to understand and control quantum systems, and to use them for cutting-edge technologies.

For many years, the university has been identifying possible savings in the energy sector. To streamline these efforts, we have developed a qualified energy-saving and climate protection concept.
