The nearest airports are in Stuttgart and Munich. Augsburg has a regional airport with destinations within Germany.
From all three cities, you can get directly to Ulm by ICE/IC or IR train with the Deutsche Bahn.
Ulm is located on the Stuttgart-Munich railway line and can be reached directly by train from most major cities in Germany. From the main station, tram line 2 (direction Sciene Park II) and bus line 5 (direction Wissenschaftsstadt) run to the university every 5-10 minutes. It is best to leave the tram or bus at the Manfred-Börner-Straße stop.
Coming from the direction of Nuremberg or Würzburg:
At the Elchingen motorway junction, change from the A7 to the A8 in the direction of Stuttgart. Now follow the further description of the approach as from the direction of Munich or Stuttgart.
Coming from the direction of Stuttgart or Munich:
Leave the A8 motorway at the Ulm West exit. Take the B10 in the direction of Ulm/Friedrichshafen and leave it at the exit Wissenschaftsstadt - Universität. Now follow the further directions to Universität West.
Coming from the direction of Kempten or Memmingen:
Leave the A7 motorway at the Hittistetten motorway junction in the direction of Ulm. Take the B10 through Ulm until you reach the exit Wissenschaftsstadt - Universität and follow the directions to Universität West.
To the University West:
At the traffic lights (after about one kilometre) turn left into Albert-Einstein-Allee to the university. Follow the road until, after an S-curve, you see striking low buildings on the left. At the last building (No. 47) you can park in car park P10 (subject to charge), there is a turning point at the roundabout. Access to car park P11 at the institute is only possible with a parking card for employees or deliveries.
